This Nursery School means so much to me as it was the preschool that I attended many years ago. Being a teacher and serving in this community, aligns with the next step in my personal and professional journey. I couldn’t imagine a better place to raise my son than this beautiful town. Our favorite things to do together include painting, jumping on our trampoline, discovering new children’s books, and planting our garden every spring. The teaching philosophy driving my curriculum and teaching methods, is learning through play. These are the formative years to set children up for success and I feel honored to be in this position. Preschool is typically a child’s first experience with education and socialization as their world suddenly becomes so much bigger. My focus is on ensuring that every child is happy and excited about coming to school as it sets them on a positive trajectory for a love of learning.

My name is Crystal Carlson and I have been living in Higganum for close to 20 years. I live in town with my husband and our 3 kids, all of whom attended this preschool. My journey with H.C.N.S. began in 2017 as the Registration Chairperson. In 2021 I became an assistant teacher alongside Miss Amanda and ran a two year Intro to Pre-K program for 2&3 year old children. I became Director after completing my course work in 2023. Being in the classroom and building connections and relationships is one of the greatest takeaways of my job. Nothing brings me more joy than to watch a child grow and share in their accomplishments. These early years are so important for a child's development and I am committed to furthering my personal education goals to continue to offer the support and encouragement your children need in our classroom. Learning is FUN! and I hope to help instill that love and excitement for learning in each of your children.
