Get to know us :
The Haddam Cooperative Nursery School is a non-profit preschool located in the classroom space of the Haddam Congregational Church in Haddam, CT. We have been in operation since 1968! We provide children ages 3-5 with an environment of love, acceptance, and fun. We work hard to establish a creative atmosphere in which children are encouraged to grow in knowledge about themselves and the world around them.
Our goals are to help your child feel good about themselves (reflected in possessing a positive self image) and to feel confident in their abilities. We create a social, child centered environment that serves as a positive beginning for their time away from home. At H.C.N.S. we seek to foster your child’s intellectual growth through exposure to basic preschool academic components consisting of numbers, letters, shapes, colors, and preparatory reading skills.
Our playground was dedicated in 2023 to honor longtime Head Teacher Marsha Brielmann.
Preschool Programs
At H.C.N.S. we offer two age appropriate classes to our families.
3 year old class
Our 3 year old class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This class is designed to be an introduction to the classroom setting, and for many is their first time away from home. We spend this time together developing relationships, maintaining routines, and diving into all that school has to offer. We begin with simple concepts such as shapes and colors as well as enhance our fine motor skills.
(Children entering our programs must be potty trained)
4-5 year old class
Our 4-5 year old class meets Monday, Wednesday, & Fridays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This program is designed as a kindergarten readiness class to prepare our students with the skills necessary to meet requirements for kindergarten entry. We spend time together developing and fostering the relationships inside our classroom and maintaining our routines. We continue to recognize colors and shapes, and add in letters and numbers as well. Fine motor skills repetition takes place to cultivate handwriting.
